EZ / Elena Zanzu (ES)

Contemporary fakir in free fall between the brightest light – and the deepest darkness!

(photo: Filippo Serra)

Elena is a contemporary artist and thinker. And in this luminous and beautiful work, the sharpest edges and the inevitable pain processes of life are handled with love and radicality.

EZ (work in progress) focuses, in a most moving way, on challenging dualistic relations such as passive/active, dominance/submission, masculine/feminine, pain/desire, performer/audience; the consent negotiations and the care are manifested collectively. In EZ, Shibari (traditional Japanese bondage technique) is merged with hair hanging technique – a new hybrid is born!

Elena Zanzu is an artist and a researcher, especially interested in the intersections between artistic practices and ethics and holds a teacher degree from Montreal National Circus School and a masters in philosophy from the University of Bologna. A collaborator of The Circus Dialogue, at KASK University of Ghent, and a lecturer on gender perspective in circus at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

Performs on the 22nd of March at 19.00 at Den Grå Hal, Refshalevej 2, 1436 København K.
