Welcome to Ceramic Circus! The arena is chalked up for an unforgettable solo performance!
Take a snare drum, 40 ceramic plates, a prepared bicycle, a loop station, a pair of roller blades, a multidisciplinary artist, and a stack of refined circus references, and you get this tour de force of virtuoso inventiveness.
In constant danger of being torpedoed by a rotating wrecking ball, Julian Vogel submits to the forces of centrifugal motion. Join us on this nerve-racking, frenetic journey towards the ultimate crescendo.
The plates in Ceramic Circus are made from recycled ceramics. After each performance, shards are collected and reused to create new plates, ensuring a sustainable cycle of production.
BIO:
Julian Vogel studied psychology and art history and has a degree from the Academy for Circus and Performance Art (ACaPA) in Tilburg, the Netherlands (2019), specialized in diabolo. Since then, he has been developing and touring the interdisciplinary project CHINA SERIES, a series of solo performances, installations and videos – all with the fragile point of departure: The ceramic diabolo. He is co-founder of Cie Trottvoir and KLUB GIRKO and has been part of several other projects (among others Panama Pictures and Cie SH) as performer and dramaturg. Julian is an autodidact in many disciplines as a result of his tireless curiosity and desire to learn. He moves agilely within construction, sound design, tech and production, and he also composes and produces electronic music for international circus and dance companies.
