Man, matter and creation!

(Photo: Marta Garcia)

Merging his acrobatic body into 500 kg’s of clay, Quim Girón challenges the borders between man and matter. Mutually shaping and challenging each other’s physicality, grotesque and unexpected creatures arise and fall. You are constantly on the edge of your chair trying to see what is next.

Accompanying him on stage are composer/musician Joan Cot Ros and light designer Joana Serra; executing a highly elaborated score of sound and light.

Quim Girón Figuerola is the founder and artistic director of Animal Religion. His work focuses on the themes of animality, gender, surreal humour and the research for new expressions within circus. He began his training in Barcelona at the Rogelio Rivel School of Circus, specializing in handstand, and then went on to Le Lido circus school in Toulouse, where he worked on the interplay between the actor and his personality onstage. He finished his studies at the DOCH (University of Dance and Circus in Stockholm, Sweden), where he focused on handstand and acro-dance and was awarded a Sophie Hulten scholarship. Currently he is studying Contemporary Circus Practice DOCH UNIARTS 2018-2020.

Joana Serra is a Light artist and mover, interested in performing arts and installations. Graduated in light live performances at Escénica Técnica and as a dancer at Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (SEAD).

Joan Cot Ros is a composer, percussionist, conductor and musical producer interested in contemporary art and interdisciplinarity. Graduated in composition at University College Falmouth (incorporating Dartington College of Arts) in UK, where he specialized in contemporary classical composition and free improvisation.
