A brand new C!CAF initiative that will present essential meetings with so called new circus coryphaeus: Artists that through decades have influenced the European scene!
This year we have invited Catalan Johnny Torres, performer, playwright and circus coach. Johnny was the co-founder of Los Galindos, and has worked among others with Circus Ronaldo and Circo de la Sombra. Artistic director of La Central del Circ (Barcelona, 2015-2020), and currently accompanies artistic research, creations and other models of restitution practices.
WORKSHOP: Johnny Torres: A gymkhana workshop
Two days dedicated to “live” creation collectively. Neither an improvisation course nor a workshop that disseminates knowledge from other eras. It’s a training proposal to take the pulse of three factors; time, context and the people with whom we will share the room, whether our colleagues or and audience.
Through timed actions, some of them already cooked and others created on-site, our goal will be detecting the individual and collective emergencies that are about to be revealed, put them into action and aiming to bring out the possibility of more singular and persuasive dramaturgies.

A shared conversation! You are welcome to an experimental open public talk or maybe a popular roundtable-debate, ideally a colloquial gathering of people looking for common links.
We’re here to talk about it!
I propose you to take as a reference some of the milestones that have led circus from Archaos to our present-day fake news arena. You can contribute by adding events and sharing your knowledge or perceptions. Every contribution counts in this one-day-map!
If circus could be the art of putting bodies in trouble, oscillating simultaneously between otherness and norm, adventure and diplomacy, risk and safety, these paradoxes form an intermediate space where contradiction could be accepted as the pivotal point.
So, in these contradictory times let’s make the paradox possible. If the ways of performing, witnessing and organizing are also political, for the second part of the conversation I propose you to imagine, with what is left over… or yet to win today, many circus hypotheses, aesthetics or models!
