A quirky pas de deux between two men

They are trained but certainly not perfect. They do not try to convince with virtuous movements. Instead, their bodies meet and collide in a joint exploration of the strengths and limitations they come across. With great concentration and humor, the performers search for balance and harmony in these entangled collisions. They challenge one another and drive each other forward, alternately taking the lead. Through constant mutual physical contact, the synergy between touching and being touched unfolds in the most sublime way.
not standing is a Belgian company directed by Alexander Vantournhout, who studied dance at P.A.R.T.S. (Performing Arts Research and Training Studios, Brussels), and single wheel at ESAC (Ecole Supérieure des Arts du Cirque, Brussels). The combination of both studies, the former focused on artistic reflection, the latter focused on physical excellence, creates the perfect link between circus and dance. A. V. received several prices and destinctions: Theater Aan Zee 2015 and Theaterfestival 2016 prizes, selection for Aerowaves Twenty16 and Circus Next Laureate 2014, among others.
Through the Grapevine is created in collaboration with performer Axel Guérin, who is specialized in duo acro-dance, educated from Circomedia in Bristol (UK) and Fontys (Academy of circus and performing arts, Tilburg). Axel performs with many different companies, not standing is one of them.
Performs on the 16th of March at 19.00 at Den Grå Hal, Refshalevej 2, 1436 København K.
